POSTED 9-27-07

Our weekly digest of everything fantasy college football. Facts don't lie and The Drill is full of 'em. Projections for the weekend of Sept. 27-Sept. 30. Stats through Sept. 26:

ANDREW ROBINSON
Syracuse, QB
Comment: For obvious reasons, the largest of which an 0-3 start to the season, the Orangemen haven't seen too many big performances, but Robinson's big day was a major reason his team shocked Louisville in the Big East opener. Robinson finished 17-of-26 with 423 yards and four touchdowns, earning Big East Player of the Week honors.

JAMES DAVIS
Clemson, RB
Comment: C.J. Spiller gets most of the attention, but Davis picked up 144 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown in a 42-20 win against NC State. He also had a touchdown catch for the No. 13 Tigers.

DARIUS NAUD
West Virginia, WR
Comment: He's not a Slaton or a White but he got a lot of looks from White, catching five passes for 54 yards and finding the end zone twice in a win against East Carolina.

SEAN HILL
Nebraska, TE
Comment: Hill led the Huskers in receiving yardage as Nebraska escaped Ball State 41-40. He finished with three receptions for 129 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown. He averaged 43 yards per catch.

JOSHUA SHENE
Ole Miss, K
Comment: Shene converted 3-of-4 field goals, including a 40-yarder in a near upset of Florida, although Rebel coaches would have liked to seen him kicking extra points instead.

OHIO STATE
Defense
Comment: The Buckeyes allowed only 129 total yards and a kick return for a touchdown in a 58-7 win against Northwestern.

CHASE CLEMENT
Rice, QB
Comment: Clement threw two interceptions in a 58-14 loss to Texas. Not enough to compete with Colt McCoy and the Longhorns. McCoy threw three scores.

NICHOLAS GRIGSBY
Arizona, RB
Comment: Averaged only 3.2 yards on 13 carries in a 45-27 loss to California.

HAKEEM NICKS
North Carolina, WR
Comment: The leading receiver for the Tar Heels in a 37-10 loss to No. 18 South Florida had only three catches for 32 yards.

AARON HERNANDEZ
Florida, TE
Comment: The 6-4 target can get lost in Florida's stable of talent. He had only one catch at Ole Miss in his first action of the year.

BRANDON WALKER
Notre Dame, K
Comment: The Irish finally scored an offensive touchdown, but until it's consistent, don't rely on Walker to get on the field a lot.

ARKANSAS
Defense
Comment: The Razorbacks have fallen from grace, allowing 83 points during a two-game losing streak.

TODD BOECKMAN
Ohio State, QB
Comment: Boeckman shredded the Northwestern defense, and the Minnesota team he faces Saturday is giving up 543.3 yards per outing. Sit back and enjoy.

KYLE WRIGHT
Miami, QB
Comment: Finally, it's safe to start a Miami Hurricane. Wright has emerged as a solid signal caller, throwing 275 yards and two scores in a big win against then-ranked Texas A&M. He'll see Duke this weekend. Need I say more?

MIKE HART
Michigan, RB
Comment: Hart should be in for a nice day against Northwestern, considering Ohio State racked up 191 rushing yards against them last week.

MIQUALE LEWIS
Ball State, RB
Comment: Lewis lit up Nebraska to the tune of 122 yards on 19 carries. Why not start him against Buffalo. Yes, Buffalo has a college team too.

STEVE JOHNSON
Kentucky, WR
Comment: Again, Kentucky is serious. Are you listening? Kentucky is good and Johnson is benefiting from the asset of quarterback Andre Woodson. He caught seven passes for 111 yards. Expect him to find the end zone against Florida Atlantic. Hopefully this won't be the week Kentucky has a meltdown, because it's coming.

MIKE WALLACE
Ole Miss, WR
Comment: The junior receiver has four touchdowns in four games and caught a 77-yarder against Florida last week. The Rebels are in Georgia for a noon start Saturday.

MARTELLUS BENNETT
Texas A&M, TE
Comment: Bennett had 49 yards and a touchdown in the Aggies loss at Miami. A&M will be looking to rebound against Baylor and he should play a sizeable role in doing so.

DARRELL STRONG
Pittsburgh, TE
Comment: One of the few bright spots in a 34-14 loss to Connecticut, Strong had six catches for 73 yards. He's averaging 42.8 yards per game but has yet to find the end zone, which could very well happen against Virginia.

JASON REDA
Illinois, K
Comment: Kicked field goals of 45 and 38 yards in a big win against Indiana. He can come in handy in a defining game against Penn State Saturday.

ROSS THEVENOT
Tulane, K
Comment: Tulane has the fun task of hosting LSU and the Tigers don't make a habit of allowing touchdowns. Thevenot may be the Green Wave's only chance at scoring.

CINCINNATI
Defense
Comment: The Bearcats are headed to San Jose State where the Aztecs posted 52 points last week. Did I mention that was against Portland State? They have a combined 30 against Washington State and Arizona State.

UTAH
Defense
Comment: The Utes have allowed eight touchdowns this season, four more than Utah State has scored. The two meet Saturday and scoring will be at a premium.

CODY HAWKINS
Colorado, QB
Comment: Hawkins led the Buff's to 73 points against Colorado State and Miami (OH) but only 20 combined against higher quality Arizona State and Florida State. They host a pretty good team Saturday — Oklahoma.

JOSH RIDDELL
Mississippi State, QB
Comment: With Michael Henig still out for the Bulldogs, Riddell and Wesley Carroll are splitting snaps, so don't let that split your stats.

CEDRIC PEERMAN
Virginia, RB
Comment: Peerman had 138 yards on 28 carries in a win against Georgia Tech, but the Cav's are hosting Pitt Saturday and the Panthers are giving up less than 100 rushing yards per game.

HARVEY UNGA
BYU, RB
Comment: New Mexico is allowing only 84.3 yards rushing per game, not a good sign for BYU back Unga, who should be awarded 50 yards per game just for having one the the game's best names.

DEREK MOORE
TCU, WR
Comment: Moore was the leading receiver against SMU with 38 yards on two catches with a touchdown. It won't come as easy against an improving Colorado State defense.

RODGERIQUS SMITH
Auburn, WR
Comment: Smith only caught three passes in a win against New Mexico State, but two of them went for touchdowns. Florida gave up a few big plays against Ole Miss and I doubt Urban Meyer will allow that again.

MARK HAFNER
Houston, TE
Comment: Hafner had six catches and a score at Tulane on Sept. 15, but only two catches for 22 yards in a win against Colorado State last week. Inconsistency isn't welcomed in fantasy play.

D.J. WILLIAMS
Arkansas, TE
Comment: One catch for 24 yards in a loss against surprise Kentucky. I know they're playing North Texas this weekend, but Darren McFadden and Felix Jones will get most of the attention from quarterback Casey Dick.

CONNOR BARTH
North Carolina, K
Comment: In three wins, Virginia Tech's defense hasn't allowed more than seven points. Probably not a good time to use the Heel kicker.

OBI EGEKEZE
Maryland, K
Comment: The Terps are at Rutgers, which has a pretty stingy defense. The scarlet Knights have given up 27 points, 24 of them in one game.

NORTH TEXAS
Defense
Comment: The Mean Green aren't looking so mean, giving up 18 touchdowns three games into the season. Why would you ever not sit 'em.

TULSA
Defense
Comment: They're giving up more than 50 points per game. Saturday's opponent has scored only four touchdowns, but even they're licking their chops at the Golden Hurricane.

Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell threw for 646 yards last week.

1982 The last time Tulane beat LSU. The Tigers have won 15 in a row against their state foe.

646 Passing yards for Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell, marking the fourth best effort in major college football history.

40 Years since Cincinnati put itself in the Top 25. The 4-0 Bearcats are off to their best start in 53 years.

36.5 Syracuse was nearly a 37 point underdog before beating Louisville 38-35 on Saturday.

JAKE LOCKER
Washington Huskies, QB
Comment: Locker has throw for more than 700 yards and has six touchdowns, but his running ability is drawing the attention of Saturday opponent USC. Locker is averaging more on the ground (90.3 per game) than any of the Trojan backs.

RUDY CARPENTER
vs vs T.C. Ostrander
Comment: Quarterback versus quarterback, Carpenter has the Sun Devils back in the Top 25 and Ostrander and the Cardinal are struggling. ASU won the battle last year, as did Carpenter, who was a near perfect 14-of-15 for 160 yards and a touchdown. Ostrander threw for 66 yards on 7-of-25 passing with an interception.

Jordy Nelson
vs. Texas secondary
Comment: If Texas wants to get revenge on Kansas State, they'll have to stop Nelson. The Wildcat receiver set a school record with 15 catches for 209 breaking the previous marks of 13 catches by Michael Smith in 1989 and 206 yards from Darnell McDonald set in 1997. Kansas State knocked Texas out of the national title hunt last season with a 45-42 win. The Longhorn defense is allowing 223.3 passing yards per game this season and they don't want Nelson to get them all.

TIM TEBOW
vs. Auburn rush defense
Comment: Gator quarterback Tim Tebow is averaging 89.5 yards per game on the ground and has seven touchdowns, almost as many yards as Auburn is allowing (113.5).

JASPER BRINKLEY
South Carolina, LB
Comment: This Lombardi and Butkus awards hopeful has a right knee sprain that will keep him out for the rest of the year.

PERCY HARVIN
Florida, WR
Comment: Harvin missed part of Tuesday's practice with a hip pointer. Fellow receiver Andre Caldwell probably won't play either. He has been sidelined with sprained knee for two weeks.

MARCUS MONK
Arkansas, WR
Comment: Monk's knee injury is having an obvious effect on the Hogs. He is expected back the first or second week of October.

BEN OLSON
UCLA, QB
Comment: Listed as probable, Olson has been cleared to play following a concussion suffered in Week 3.

JOHN WILLIAMS
DE, Oklahoma
Comment: Williams had surgery on his torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season. It's his second season-ending injury (2005) and he may try for a sixth season of eligibility.

W. VIRGINIA @ S. FLORIDA

Fri. 8 p.m. ET
The Bulls have climbed into the Top 25, but some may debate the validity of that. Their 3-0 start includes wins against Elon, Auburn and North Carolina. The 26-23 win against Southeastern Conference Auburn is looking less impressive by the day, after the Tigers lost to Mississippi State. The defense, though, is allowing only 237.7 yards per game and have given up only four touchdowns. West Virginia quarterback Pat White and running back Steve Slaton have the ability to double that. The Mountaineers have scored 26 touchdowns and average 525 yards an outing.
