In light of the alleged infidelity of New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, a very real consideration hit me: Does any self-respecting woman still wear his jersey?
Well, that all depends. Are you going to stop wearing sports jerseys altogether? Because the fact of the matter is it would be more of a story if a pro-player was not cheating on his wife. Apparently A-Rod is just not that good at it, or he wouldn't have been caught. It seems that even the strongest of men have a weakness for breasts. Although I think your John Amaechi jersey may be safe to wear.
It seems, however, that putting Benjamins in a stripper's g-string is A-Rod's performance enhancing drug. In recent weeks his stats have soared, a few weeks ago being named AL Player of the Week with a .400 batting average, 4 homers and 16 RBI.
So the question is: Do you care more about your team's advancement or Alex's personal life? Put another way, would you consider yourself a Yankee fan first or a feminist? If you read my column, chances are you are not the latter. You should be all for his promiscuity given the results it produces for your team's success.
If C-Rod can stand by her man while he signs autographs the morning following the alleged scandal, then I'm pretty sure it's OK for you to do so. Don't feel bad for Cynthia, she'll either come out with a fortune you can only dream about or a really good story as to why her husband has been seen publicly philandering with a busty blonde-in-a-bottle.
You never know, she could be his fourth cousin, twice removed, twin sister separated at birth or even his spiritual advisor.
Oh and on a sidebar to A-Rod, if you are going to cheat, next time choose someone who is at least hot enough to make it into an actual issue of "Playboy Magazine".
