Preseason Form

You've got questions and Answer Gal has the knowledge:

What if your man insists on watching every second of every preseason football game? A guide to understanding the fantasy football freak.

Well, there are two main reasons to watch preseason games. First off, die-hard NFL fans actually begin to go into withdrawal around February and preseason helps to satisfy that addiction, with games on Thursday through Monday (which, in my opinion, is how it should be all season long).

I mean, let's face it, six months without pro football is way too long. Also, if your boyfriend is a big fantasy junkie, it'll give him a feel for the abilities of rookies, new starters and traded players on new teams.

But, even though I can relate to his plight, I will try to help you get your boyfriend back. For starters, try impressing him with your football knowledge by explaining to him that only the first quarter in preseason football is worth watching because it is the only time during these games that even slightly mimics the play in the regular season. Tell him that it is silly for him to watch beyond the first half because most of the first team will be benched in an effort to avoid unnecessary injury.

Also, not that I want to overstep my boundaries (oh wait, that's what I do) but I can think of a few conventional ways to get a man to stop watching television. Use your imagination and I'm sure you can think of one or two things that he likes better than football.

And if all else fails, think of this as momentary freedom. Go cause trouble and run wild for the last month of summer. If he is as absorbed as you say he is, chances are he won't even know you're gone.
