There are rotisserie heroes and fantasy goats. But some performances are so ugly, egregious or plain perplexing that it begs the refrain: What the F--k! Here is Update's seriously twisted moment this week.
POSTED 2-12-07 New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez moved from third base to the pen — metaphorically at least — when he unveiled his new children's book last week: "Out of the Ballpark." But like many moves this star-crossed player has made since being traded to the Big Apple, the press conference and signing session last Tuesday at a New York City bookstore didn't turn out as scripted. A public relations suit mothering over the event cut A-Rod and beat reporters short — in mid-sentence. Adding to the misstep, an NYPD sergeant playing security guard manhandled a reporter in an attempt to clear the area. This wasn't A-Rod's error. Lord knows he made plenty in 2006. And it wasn't him who used force to restrain a reporter, not unlike the way he slapped the ball out of Boston pitcher Bronson Arroyo's glove in Game 6 of the 2004 American League Championship Series. Nevertheless, it gave the Yankees slugger another very public black eye. How do you say WTF! in Spanish?
