There are rotisserie heroes and fantasy goats. But some performances are so ugly, egregious or plain perplexing that it begs the refrain: What the F--k! Here is Update's seriously twisted moment this week.
A federal trial centering on greed and baseball began in a Key West courthouse on Wednesday. Sports agent Gus Dominguez was charged in October of smuggling five baseball prospects out of communist Cuba. Among the players Dominguez is accused of bringing to the U.S. include Atlanta Double-A pitcher Francisely Bueno and Arizona Double-A pitcher Osbek Castillo. Dominguez could face serious prison time if found guilty of smuggling conspiracy, including 21 felony counts. Freeing anyone from the grips of Fidel Castro's Cuba should be seen as a positive. But that probably wasn't the chief motivation here. WTF! Isn't the world-wide talent pool deep enough that agents don't have to use go-fast boats to smuggle prospects across the Florida Straits? Sounds like an episode of Miami Vice instead of the biography of a big league player.
