The Lineup is here to dish out fantasy insight on all things baseball. Here are five storylines you should be following this week:

PEDRO PROGRESSES
The New York Mets got a pleasant surprise this past week as the New York Post reported, "Martinez was slated to throw his sixth bullpen session yesterday in Port St. Lucie, but he had been progressing so well and feeling so lively, he tossed 45 pitches of batting practice instead. It was the first time Martinez had faced live hitters." This is terrific news for the Mets and fantasy owners alike as Pedro continues to make strides towards an August return to action. If you are one of those owners who has held onto Martinez all season, it seems as if your patience will pay off. If Pedro happens to be on your league's waiver wire and you have space to stash him, then do so. He is going to be as fresh as he has been in recent years and there is no reason to think that he can't dominate upon his return.

GALLARDO BUMPED
Well it was a fun ride while it lasted. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that, "Rookie Yovani Gallardo will make his third and last start before the break Friday [June 29] against the Cubs, after which he is expected to slide into a bullpen role. 'We'll re-evaluate everything at the break,' [manager Ned] Yost said." The move to the bullpen is due to the return of starting pitcher Chris Capuano from the DL. Gallardo displayed brilliant poise and excellent stuff during his brief run as a member of the Brewers rotation, which included a seven inning, eight strikeout, one run performance against the Kansas City Royals on June 24. So does this news mean that Gallardo should be cut outright by fantasy owners everywhere? Not exactly. A lot of this has to do with the Brewers having a considerable lead in the NL Central Division, so they can afford to let Gallardo pitch in relief. However, if the surging Chicago Cubs make a strong run and/or the Brewers starting pitching does not get it done, you can bet that Gallardo will be slotted right back into that rotation. Those of you in deep fantasy leagues that can afford the bench space should stash Gallardo or use him for relief innings. Keep a close eye on this situation as an implosion or two by starting pitchers Dave Bush or Claudio Vargas could land Gallardo right back where he belongs in the starting staff.

BIG WEEK BREWING
The Milwaukee Brewers, one of the surprise teams in baseball this season, are highlighted in this week's edition of The Lineup as they have favorable match-ups on the road this week against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals. First baseman Prince Fielder is having a tremendous year and is an absolute must-start despite his recent batting average struggles. Outfielder Corey Hart, who is having a breakout season, should be started against both clubs, he has career averages of .327 against Pittsburgh and .313 against Washington. Catcher Johnny Estrada looks to have a strong week as he is batting .314 on the road this season (as opposed to .258 at home). Pitcher Ben Sheets gets a start against the Pirates and has been great in his career against Pittsburgh with a 2.90 ERA in 19 starts. Even outfielder Geoff Jenkins is a strong start this week, especially against the Nationals as he owns a career .325 average with 14 home runs and 48 RBI in 50 games. Should be a pleasant week for fantasy owners sporting Brewers on their rosters.

POWER-HUNGRY TWINS
According to the Star-Tribune, "the [Minnesota] Twins are looking to add some punch to their lineup. Names such as Tampa Bay's Ty Wigginton, Boston's Mike Lowell, Milwaukee's Kevin Mench, Washington's Dmitri Young and others have been kicked around the Metrodome." The Minnesota Twins are going to have a tough time catching the Detroit Tigers or Cleveland Indians for a playoff spot without an offensive boost, so this news is not at all surprising. It is hard to imagine the Red Sox parting with Mike Lowell as they would not have an adequate replacement for his bat and glove at third. But everyone else that was mentioned seems very attainable — Mench isn't even starting for the Brewers right now. Outside of first baseman Justin Morneau and outfielder Torii Hunter, the Twins are not seeing power numbers come out of that lineup. Mench is a streaky player and would probably gain little value were he to land with the Twins. Wigginton's value would likely remain the same since the Devil Rays have a pretty potent offense. Young is the most intriguing of the mentioned players. The lineup in Washington is terrible, yet Young has surprisingly become a valid fantasy option this season hitting over .330 for the year. It will be interesting to see what direction, if any, the Twins go so make sure you track any developments this week.

GARZA RECALLED
Brace yourselves people, another top prospect is finally getting to play in the big leagues this season. MLB.com revealed, "The Twins recalled right-hander Matt Garza from Triple-A Rochester . . . [GM Terry Ryan] and the boys decided it was time,' Gardenhire said. 'He's been getting passed up by a lot of people, and it's time for the young man to come up here. Let's see where he's at throwing the baseball.'" Yes, let's. Many were shocked that Garza, who had a strong Spring Training, did not start the season on the Twins major league roster. Garza got a chance to play in 2006, posting a 3-6 record and an atrocious 5.76 ERA. Those numbers leave something to the imagination, but keep in mind that he was striking out over a batter per inning in minor league ball this season. Garza is going to be available to work out of the bullpen early this week and get a start in Friday's double-header against the Chicago White Sox. Fantasy owners should temper their expectations since his ERA and WHIP projections are going to be on the wrong side of 4.00 and 1.30, respectively. But owners in deeper leagues (and especially AL-Only leagues) should get a jump on the competition and nab Garza. See how he does Friday against the anemic White Sox this week to see if he has a shot of sticking in the rotation.
