DRAFT ANALYSIS
2. David Wright, Mets third baseman: Now there's my Met. Wright had an amazing season last year with the Amazin's with 116 RBIs and 26 home runs. Oh, and watch out, he can steal too!
3. Miguel Tejada, Orioles shortstop: Tejada had 214 hits last season, which is by far the most on my roster. He also added 24 home runs and 100 RBIs. 4. Victor J. Martinez, Indians catcher: Martinez had a .391 batting average last season with 181 hits and 93 RBIs. 5. Derrek Lee, Cubs first baseman: Lee was hurt for most of the season last year so he didn't see too much action. However, if healthy, this man was a steal in the fifth round and will contribute nicely to my offense. 6. Huston Street, A's closer: Finally picked up a pitcher. Street was the 2005 rookie of the year and will hopefully bounce back from an injury-ridden second season. I have high hopes for him as a relief pitcher. 7. Carlos Guillen, Tigers shortstop: In his 543 at bats last season, Guillen's batting .320. To that he added 174 hits, 85 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. Guillen is a reliable and consistent fantasy player when he is not hurt. 8. Dontrelle Willis, Marlins starter: My first starting pitcher. Expected to bounce back from a sub-par year, Willis is an elite pitcher in the league and definitely worth an 8th round draft pick. 9. Chris Ray, Orioles closer: Ray is a young player and should be developing more and more each year as a reliever. He should only add to his 33 saves he racked in last year. 10. Torii Hunter, Twins outfielder: Hunter is both a home run threat and a threat to steal, when healthy. Although there were definitely some drawbacks to drafting him, I just love him as an all-around player. 11. Bronson Arroyo, Reds starter: Arroyo had a fantastic season last year with 14 wins, 184 strikeouts and a 3.2 ERA. I expect him to have a comparable season this year with the Reds. 12. Tahadito Iguchi, White Sox second baseman: Iguchi is a solid offensive option with many good stats. 13. Paul Lo Duca, Mets catcher: Another Met, Lo Duca is a great catcher and most impressively, in his 512 at bats last season, he only struck out 38 times. He also contributed 163 hits. 14. Derek Lowe, Dodgers starter: Lowe had 16 wins last season and a 3.6 ERA. A great pick-up for the 14th round. 15. Ken Griffey Jr., Reds outfielder: Ken Griffey...need I say more? He was born to be a home-run hitter and smacked 27 last season. Just crossing my fingers and toes that he will remain healthy for me this season. 16. Nomar Garciaparra, Dodgers first baseman: Garciaparra is a solid hitter and he hits hard. With 20 home runs last season, he was a great late round choice. 17. Javier Vazquez, White Sox starter: Vazquez is a monster when it comes to strike outs. I'm confident that this will be a great year for him, after disappointing many with high hopes for last season. 18. Ryan P. Freel, Reds outfielder: If nothing else, Freel can steal bases. We just have to make sure he gets on. 19. Jeff Suppan, Brewers starter: Suppan is a great pitcher. Many think the move to Milwaukee may hurt him, but I'm confident in his ability to win games. 20. Daniel Cabrera, Orioles starter: Cabrera has a really fast fastball and has had glimmers of greatness. Look for him to have a breakout year. 21. Joel Pineiro, Red Sox closer: I'm keeping an eye on Pineiro in hopes that he will be given the closer job. If he doesn't, I'll probably drop him early on. 22. Xavier Nady, Pirates outfielder: Ex-Met, and I hope he could be a shining star on a terrible Pittsburgh team. Good addition for the last round.
