STEVE NASH
Phoenix Suns, PG
Comment: Nash has got the run-and-gun Phoenix attack down pat by now. He's dropped in 15,15 and 12 assists respectively over his last three games and is shooting a scorching 55 percent from the field. Not surprisingly, the Suns have won five straight.
KEVIN MARTIN
Sacramento Kings, SG
Comment: Maybe the only true bright spot for the Kings this season, Martin is the best player you've never heard of. This stud fantasy marksman dropped 43 points against the Knicks on Friday and is averaging 28 points on 46 percent shooting this season.
RASHARD LEWIS
Orlando Magic, SF
Comment: Lewis is everything the Magic needed — a pure scorer with a nice all around game. Lewis is everything your fantasy team needs — a pure scorer with a nice all around game. Quietly, he is leading the NBA in three pointers and is averaging 21 points per game with a solid five rebounds. Expect these numbers all season long as he will be getting more looks as the season progresses while Dwight Howard is double teamed.
CARLOS BOOZER
Utah Jazz, PF
Comment: Boozer is a monster when he's on the court. Unfortunately, injuries have sidelined him over the past two-seasons. Now fully healthy, Boozer has led the Jazz with nine double-doubles in 11 games.
DWIGHT HOWARD
Orlando Magic, C
Comment: Howard is averaging an otherworldly 15 rebounds a game. He's finally got a legitimate scorer to take the pressure off of him and he's responding with the best numbers of his young career. Everybody's talking about the Celtics in the East. Where's the love for the Magic?
GILBERT ARENAS
Washington Wizards, PG
Comment: Arenas has just not been his usual self. A sore knee kept him out of a game against Portland and he has topped 10 assists just once this season. That and his 39 percent field goal percentage get him on this list.
RICKY DAVIS
Miami Heat, SG
Comment: Davis was expected to shoulder the load for the Heat with Dwyane Wade recovering from a knee injury. Instead, he has been inconsistent and ineffective. With Wade returning soon, Davis might find his numbers dropping even further.
MATT BARNES
Golden State Warriors, SF
Comment: Barnes has worked himself into Don Nelson's dog-house. With Stephen Jackson's return from suspension, Barnes might find his role in the lineup severely reduced.
DIRK NOWITZKI
Dallas Mavericks, PF
Comment: It's not that Nowitzki's numbers are that bad. It's just they're so far short of what we expect from Dirk. He's averaging under 20 points and nine rebounds and his 27 percent mark from downtown is hardly encouraging. He'll snap out of this funk soon, but for now he's ice cold.
SHAREEF ABDUR-RAHIM
Miami Heat, C
Comment: This twelve-year veteran is finally slowing down. After averaging over 18 points a game for his career, he has posted just 10 points all season long. Off-season knee surgery has limited his ability to run and cut toward the basket. Assume he's not going to be himself for a long, long time.
LEANDRO BARBOSA
Phoenix Suns, PG
Comment: Hello sixth man of the year award, it's nice to see you. Meet my friend, Leandro Barbosa. Leandro has knocked down a ridiculous 18 three pointers in his last four games. He would be starring on any other team and has the capability to explode for huge numbers on any given night.
BARON DAVIS
Golden State Warriors, PG
Comment: Someone might want to tell Davis the playoffs ended; He's averaging 26 points and nine assists so far this season. Davis has always been one of the top players in the league, but his injury prone physique has limited his court time. Finally, Davis might get recognition as the All-star that he truly is.
MANU GINOBLI
San Antonio Spurs, SG
Comment: Fantasy owners should have fun with this one. Manu's probably the most overlooked big-time fantasy performer right now. He's averaging 20 points, five rebounds and five assists while nabbing just under three steals a game. Now here's the kicker: he's only averaging 29 minutes per game. Manu owners, rejoice.
BONZI WELLS
Houston Rockets, SG
Comment: Wells isn't putting up flashy numbers, but he keeps on steadily producing. He's averaging a solid 8.4 rebounds his last five games and has recorded seven blocks in his last five. See if you can't use him as prime trade bait now. Who knows how long he'll stay hot.
LEBRON JAMES
Cleveland Cavaliers, SF
Comment: Long live the King! James is averaging 28 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, two steals and just under two blocks a game. Move over Dirk, the new MVP is here.
RICHARD JEFFERSON
New Jersey Nets, SF
Comment: Jefferson hasn't scored under 20 points in any game this season and he will be depended on as the go-to guy while Vince Carter is sidelined with a balky ankle. Jefferson currently averages 26 points and six rebounds per game. He is finally playing up to the potential everyone knew he had.
ANDREI KERILINKO
Utah Jazz, PF
Comment: Ladies and gentlemen, AK-47 is back with a vengeance. His last five games he has averaged 11 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, three steals and just under three blocks, all while keeping his FG% above .500. Have no doubts, people; The Russian stat machine is back.
DAVID WEST
New Orleans Hornets, PF
Comment: West doesn't get the recognition he deserves playing on a surprisingly potent Hornets team. He dropped 40 in a win over Memphis and is posting a respectable 7.5 rebounds a game. He's going to keep getting minutes and he's going to keep filling the box-score.
ANDRIS BIEDRINS
Golden State Warriors, C
Comment: The Warriors have been off the mark to open the season. But not Biedrins. A double-double with two blocks a game and 60 percent from the floor qualifies him as one of the most proficient centers.
MARCUS CAMBY
Denver Nuggets, C
Comment: Camby might be averaging less than 10 points a game, but his 14.5 rebounds surely makes up for his lack of any sort of offensive arsenal. His three blocks a game are nice. And those three assists? Icing on the cake.
RAFER ALSTON
Houston Rockets, PG
Comment: Alston might want to go back to playing on the streets with his And-1 crew; he's been nothing but an over-hyped bust since he's come to the NBA. He's averaging seven points, three rebounds and four assists. Stay away from "Skip to my Lou".
LUTHER HEAD
Houston Rockets, PG
Comment: Head looks to have a promising career and most thought this would be his breakout season; apparently that isn't the case just yet. Head, who is lethal from downtown, isn't even averaging one three pointer a game and has averaged two points, zero rebounds and one assist so far. Let's see if he rises to the occasion with McGrady out.
VINCE CARTER
New Jersey Nets, SG
Comment: Carter was off to a slow start (only 17 points per game and four assists). Now he's got a bad ankle injury. Prince Vince is still one of the league's premier players and should be treated as so; wait on him and he will deliver.
LARRY HUGHES
Cleveland Cavaliers, SG
Comment: The oft injured Hughes is now out for a month with a leg injury and should be dropped immediately. He will never return to his old form. His fantasy career is just about done with.
TREVOR ARIZA
Orlando Magic, SF
Comment: Ariza played his way into Doc Goodens good graces last season. But with the off-season aquisition of Rashard Lewis, there's just no room for this hustle-and-dive play of Ariza. He's currently averaging just 10 minutes a game; if that doesn't change, then he's a definate drop.
MATT BARNES
Golden State Warriors, SF
Comment: In nearly identical minutes as last season, Barnes has been a gigantic dissapointment. His game has regressed and he's shooting career lows. And with Stephen Jackson's return coach Don Nelson is likely to be less forgiving of his shoddy play.
TROY MURPHY
Indiana Pacers, PF
Comment: Murphy looked to have a promising career; he was averaging 10 rebounds per game just two seasons ago, but it seems that since he was traded to Indiana from Golden State, he has never been the same. Murphy is only averaging 13 points and six rebounds and has been sidelined with a bum Achilles. Odds are slim he will return to grabbing 10 boards with Jermaine O’neal and Danny Granger on the glass, so stay away.
CHARLIE VILLANUEVA
Milwaukee Bucks, PF
Comment: Talk about a fall off. This kid was supposed to go wild and it just hasn't happened yet. Villanueva is only averaging eight points and four rebounds but should be averaging 15 and eight. Don't give up on Villanueva; keep an eye on him and snatch him off the waiver wire the moment he starts producing.
JAMAL MAGLOIRE
New Jersey Nets, C
Comment: This former first round NBA draft pick is currently averaging an atrocious two points, five rebounds and virtually no assists, steals or blocks. Stay away from Magloire as if your life depends on it.
BEN WALLACE
Detroit Pistons, C
Comment: His afro isn't the only thing on his head; the Kobe Bryant trade rumors must be fogging his game because there is no reason for one of the league's best rebounders and shot blockers to be playing at such a low level. Wallace is currently averaging four points, five rebounds and one assist a game with only one block; he's also averaging a disgusting 30.3 FG% and 25 FT%.
