As the free agency period slows to a crawl, attention shifts inward with several teams reworking veteran contracts. Now begins a waiting game as the NFL Draft nears. Several players and picks are on the block. Just don't expect to see much movement until just before the draft. Who will blink first? Here are five storylines you should be following this week:

GORE CASHES IN
What motivates more than money? San Francisco running back Frank Gore got a big pay hike last week. Gore went from fantasy sleeper to terror by leading the NFC with 1,695 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns a year ago. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Gore will receive a $6.5 million signing bonus and make $14 million in guaranteed money after signing a four-year extension last Tuesday. The move give the young back plenty of security so he can go out and do his job. Owners in keeper leagues rejoice!

GREEN GONE?
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green is starting to generate trade buzz. While Miami and Detroit have been lukewarm suitors over the last month for the 36-year-old, the Cleveland Browns have reportedly in the last week reached out to inquire about Green. A move to Cleveland makes sense. Green could serve as a mentor and failsafe for young studs Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson. But is that what Green wants? There's no doubt Green will move in the days before the NFL Draft, so watch where he lands.

DADDY DAY CARE
Is Big Daddy being a big baby? The Miami Dolphins traded Dan Wilkinson to the Denver Broncos for a sixth round pick on March 2, but the deal was voided Saturday because Wilkinson never showed up at his new team's facility to take a physical. Wilkinson, a 14-year defensive tackle, was a backup in Miami this past season. The fantasy implications? The Dolphins have a top defensive unit and that's not going to change with or without Big Daddy.

RUNNING ON EMPTY?
Ricky Williams, who led the NFL in rushing in 2002, appears ready to make another comeback. The Miami Dolphins running back missed the entire 2006 season for violating the league substance-abuse policy. Williams, 29, will reportedly seek reinstatement in the coming weeks. Williams retired from the game after the 2003 season amid yet another failed drug test, only to return in 2005 after serving a four-game suspension. Another positive test — his fourth — during the off-season earned him a one-year ban from the NFL. He played in Canada instead before breaking his arm. His NFL suspension officially ends April 27. Don't expect Williams to have much fantasy value. He's insurance if Ronnie Brown gets hurt again.

ANGRY BEAR
It doesn't appear Lance Briggs is headed anywhere. The disgruntled Pro Bowl linebacker wanted a multi-year contract or wanted out of Chicago. He'll get neither, according to Bears GM Jerry Angelo. Briggs was slapped with the franchise tag in February, which will earn him about $7.2 million next season, according to NFL.com. The Bears defense was at the heart of the team's Super Bowl run, so keep an eye on where Briggs stands as training camp opens. This unit will be a top fantasy play again if he's still there and ready to contribute.
