POSTED 8-10-07

Our weekly digest of everything fantasy football. Facts don't lie and The Huddle is full of 'em. Projections for the weekend of Aug. 10-13. Stats through Aug. 9:

TONY ROMO
Dallas Cowboys, QB
Comment: In the preseason opener against the Colts, Romo completed 10 of 11 passes for 93 yards. There should be no lingering doubt; Romo has all the tools to succeed.

SHAUN ALEXANDER
Seattle Seahawks, RB
Comment: Not only is Alexander fully recovered from the foot injury that sidelined him for much of last season, but Pro Bowl left tackle Walter Jones (sore shoulder) is ready to play as well.

CALVIN JOHNSON
Detroit Lions, WR
Comment: Johnson caught two passes for 45 yards in the preseason opener against the Bengals, securing a touchdown drive. This is a rookie with monster potential.

JEREMY SHOCKEY
New York Giants, TE
Comment: The Giants open the preseason at home against Carolina on Saturday. Shockey figures to be a major factor in their success.

SHAYNE GRAHAM
Cincinnati Bengals, K
Comment: Graham looks to build on last seasons 115-point season, and if the preseason is any indicator than he has a good shot. He converted both extra point attempts for the Bengals on Thursday as well as converting four of five field goals.

SAN FRANCISCO
Defense
Comment: The addition of Nate Clements was a huge element in reshaping the 49ers style of play. But he isn't the only one worth mentioning. Rookie Patrick Willis figures to have an impact, and Walt Harris is always reliable.

JOEY HARRINGTON
Atlanta Falcons, QB
Comment: Harrington gets his first crack as a starter Friday in what figures to be a long season for the Falcons. Injuries and off-field distractions look to limit an already average Atlanta team.

CLINTON PORTIS
Washington Redskins, RB
Comment: Portis has been sitting out of practices due to tendonitis in his right knee. After Ladell Betts showed he was capable of carrying the load last season, Portis number of touches could be cut in order to keep him healthy.

TERRY GLENN
Dallas Cowboys, WR
Comment: This veteran receiver just had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and will miss the preseason. Although he will be ready for game one, expect a slow start to the season.

DALLAS CLARK
Indianapolis Colts, TE
Comment: Injury concerns aside, Clark will be competing with Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and rookie standout Anthony Gonzalez for catches.

JOHN KASAY
Carolina Panthers, K
Comment: In his 15 seasons with the Panthers, Kasay has never been consistent. Consider last seasons 100-point performance an anomaly — the Panthers anemic offense won't get him into position of often enough to be of value.

OAKLAND RAIDERS
Defense
Comment: Oakland faces a young and hungry Arizona team on Saturday in the preseason opener. New coach Ken Wisenhunt and Matt Leinart will look to pick apart a floundering Oakland team missing JaMarcus Russell.

WILLIE PARKER
Pittsburgh Steelers, RB
Comment: Willie Parker has been sitting out of practices and will likely miss the next two preseason games with a sore knee. Don't expect Parker to see much playing time during the preseason, the Steelers are trying to keep the 1,400-yard rusher fresh for the start of the season. It might be worth using a late-round pick on backup Najeh Davenport for insurance.

FRANK GORE
San Francisco 49ers, RB
Comment: Gore has been forced out of preseason activity after breaking his hand at the start of camp. This injury shouldn't limit him come the regular season, and owners who draft Gore as a No.1 shouldn't worry about his productivity. Expect another big season from Gore.

KELLEN WINSLOW
Cleveland Browns, TE
Comment: Be wary of using draft space on Winslow. Although talented, the Browns has have placed him on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP) while he rests he knee. He is probable for the start of the season, but is still an injury concern. After coming off microfracture surgery during the off-season, no tight end will be under more scrutiny.

ALGE CRUMPLER
Atlanta Falcons, TE
Comment: Things keep getting worse for the Atlanta Falcons. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Alge has been advised to stop all football related activity after suffering a setback in his return from arthoscopic knee surgery. Losing the four-time Pro Bowl tight end would be a huge blow for a team that faces serious quarterback concerns.

SANTANA MOSS
Washington Redskins, WR
Comment: Moss has been limited of late due to a sore leg. Prior to this, a strained groin had kept him out of practice. Moss has had some small injury concerns over the years and is inconsistent at the position. But the monster stat lines that he is capable of producing should make him a viable No.2 wide out candidate. He might have nagging injuries all season, but it shouldn't be enough to limit him.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo gets off to a sizzling start in a 23-10 preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts.

533 Yards wide receiver Randy Moss recorded last year with the Oakland Raiders — his lowest totals in nine NFL seasons. He looks for a fresh start with New England.

50 Odds of starting at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. Coach Romeo Crennel flipped a coin to see whether Charlie Frye or Derek Anderson would start Friday's exhibition against Kansas City. Frye won.

11 Number of days Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Brady Quinn sat out before signing a $20.2 million contract.

10 Complete passes thrown by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo in the preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. He finished the day 10 of 11 for 93 yards.

CALVIN JOHNSON
Detroit Lions, WR
Comment: Johnson could be one of the few rookie receivers to have an immediate impact. With Jon Kitna airing the ball out regularly, Johnson could supplant Mike Furrey as the No.2 wide out for Detroit.

ADRIAN PETERSON
Minnesota Vikings, RB
Comment: Although he'll start the season behind Chester Taylor, expect the two to be splitting carries evenly by the end of the season. And with Taylor being an injury concern, Peterson might find himself carrying the load sooner than he thinks.

BRANDON JACKSON
Green Bay Packers, RB
Comment: No rookie has a great a chance to contribute immediately as Jackson. With No.1 running back Vernand Morency out with a knee injury that appears to be getting worse, Jackson will get the lion's share of the carries for the Packers.

MARSHAWN LYNCH
Bufallo Bills, RB
Comment: Like Jackson, Lynch has a chance at being the featured back for the Bills. The difference is that the Bills have more alternatives, including rookie Dwayne Wright and Anthony Thomas.

ZACH MILLER
Oakland Raiders, TE
Comment: Forget the Bears' Greg Olsen. Miller steps into a woeful Raiders team that will look to utilize him immediately. The skeptical quality of Oakland receivers will make Miller look like an attractive option to JaMarcus Russell or Daunte Culpepper.

Joey Harrington
vs. Jets Secondary
Comment: Joey Harrington makes his starting debut against the Jets on Friday. How will Harrington respond after the off-season circus of the Michael Vick case thrust him into the spotlight? Will injuries to Warrick Dunn and Alge Crumpler lead to a team wide breakdown, or will Harrington find a way to make things work?

New England Wide Receivers
vs. Tampa Bay Secondary
Comment: The Patriots overhauled their receiving corps during the off-season, hoping to provide Tom Brady & Co. with Super Bowl ring No. 4. This preseason opener will not only be a strong indicator of the Pat's success in mining League talent, but will also be the first opportunity to check out Randy Moss in a New England jersey. If the thought of watching Moss and Stallworth line up for deep bombs doesn't get you ready for the football season, nothing will.

Trent Green
vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Comment: Culpepper, Trent Green will make him home debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday. A perennial underachiever, Trent Green looks to reignite his career and keep the Dolphins modest offense from sputtering. Will Green be able to overcome a weak offensive line and force the Dolphins into contention?

Chargers @ Seahawks
LaDainian Tomlinson will be gunning to prove that last seasons freakish performance wasn't an aberration. Meanwhile, Shaun Alexander looks for a fresh start after a broken foot disrupted his 2006 campaign. The Seahawks are trying to lay claim to the top spot in the NFC West and a tune-up against the unrelenting Chargers is just the kind of warm-up that makes preseason football interesting.
